Moved to house with Central Air - too dry!! Anyone know of a way to adjust the humidity?

It's ridiculously humid outside, but so arid inside that I wake up with a sore throat and dry mouth. There is only the temperature adjuster in the hall, but does anyone know of a way to adjust how much humidity with the central air unit - maybe in the unit itself? Or should I just go out and buy some humidifiers?
