Ipod touch 3G jailbreak problem!!!!!!!!!!!Please!!!!!?

Ok, spirit(the jailbreak thing) doesn't work on ipods in recovery mode so if I put it into DFU mode will it work? And how can i control itunes to not close everytimei disconnect my ipod and not STOP the download!!!!!!! Pretty please
