Do you have to refrigerate beef jerky?
It's pretty much a 'CYA' (cover your a$$) tactic used by the company, in this case Jack Links, to say, "Hey. If you open this and do not refrigerate your protein or consume within 3 days, something COULD happen to you, and we're being told by our legal department to put this here to make sure it covers us in the chance that someone comes down with an instant case of death, diarrhea, vomiting, or any other awful thing ociated with food poisoning, from eating bad, jerky that shouldn't have been eaten ANYWAY seeing as it was obviously NOT TO BE EATEN LOOKING GREEN AND FURRY!" Or, their jerky might just have a higher fat and water content, as well as chemical preservatives to prevent spoilage.. this might be their culprit. But I somehow doubt it. This may seem a really ridiculous way of saying it, but if you keep your jerky in a non-moist environment.. it's dried, cured meat. It's intended to be kept in back packs, duffel bags, knapsacks, whatever, for the person on the go.
