How come my parents had so much fun when they were teens?

i have no idea how to party, and it seems everyone is against everything in the modern society.. my parents talk about how they used to party all the time and all the wonderful times they had but i have no idea how to have fun, and i feel like such a loser since my childhood is so lame and uninteresting.. i have never really had any real fun and people wonder why im so depressed.. its kinda hard to enjoy life when all you do is get yelled at and bossed around all day with no fun..
