Why aren't white women submissive?

I think you answered your own question - feminism. Women have become more independent of men with better jobs so they don't feel as much of a need to be submissive. Therefor they can more easily leave a relationship and move on to another. I would argue that feminism is one cause for increased divorce rate in the US, but you can decide weather that's good or bad.
