What is he thinking???

Question for the guys. Been dating this guy for 2 yrs. He dated his previous GF for over 10 yrs, but they had a brother/sister relationship. She continues to try and wedge us apart. She plays the victim well and he'll help her do everything, even fix a lightbulb. No joke. I'm a single mom and don't even get 1/4 of the help. His family has her over to dinner almost every Sunday. I've been over 3x. His family likes me (mom hugs me etc.) however, I think they all feel sorry for her and molly-coddle her to the extreme. She has not moved on. She told me she still loved him. He says he does not love her. Counselor said to put boundaries around her and integrate me more into his family, which he has not done but says he's working on it. It's so bad that when his father died, I did not get invited to the funeral for fear of freaking her out and she in turn upsetting the mom. Aside from me needing a lobotomy for staying, can anyone shed light on what he might be thinking?
